Developing, regulating, and promoting the sport of powerlifting across Ghana — under the guidance of the International Powerlifting Federation.
The Ghana Association of Powerlifting (G.A.P.) is the official national governing body for the sport of powerlifting in Ghana. Founded in 2026, G.A.P. operates as a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to developing the sport at every level — from grassroots participation to international competition.
G.A.P. is affiliated to the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) and the African Powerlifting Federation (APF), ensuring Ghana's athletes compete on the world stage under internationally recognised rules and standards. All G.A.P. events follow current IPF Technical Rules with full WADA-compliant anti-doping protocols.
G.A.P. is governed by three legal bodies established under its Constitution. The General Assembly is the supreme governing body, meeting annually no less than one day before the National Championship. The Executive Committee functions as the Board of Directors between General Assemblies, holding fiduciary responsibility. All governance structures comply with the IPF Constitution, By-Laws, and IOC Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance.
G.A.P. operates in full compliance with the IPF Constitution, IPF By-Laws, IPF Technical Rules, and the IPF Anti-Doping Rules. All members are bound by the World Anti-Doping Code (WADA). The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne is recognised as the sole external jurisdiction body for disputes. G.A.P. is not affiliated with any organisation with similar objectives to the IPF or any organisation purporting to be a worldwide governing body for powerlifting.
All General Assembly and Extraordinary General Assembly minutes, annual reports, and audited financial statements are published below for transparency and good governance, per IPF By-Law 12.3.
